The opera is a scanner of a 1941 photograph portraying the 237th section of the Carabinieri (a unit of the Italian Army) in Bologna, minutes before leaving for the Russian Campaign printed on canvas.
With the red thread sewing the faces of the soldiers, leaving only my father's uncovered, I wanted to symbolize the soldiers who have never returned or who have changed name and life to remain in Russia after the Second World War.
